Flowers are my favorite subject. They have it all – vibrant color, texture, and shape. I have a cutting garden in my yard and am inspired by the beautiful flowers that bloom in spring and summer. My subjects also include portraits, landscapes, and still life. I travel frequently, and bring a small sketch book with me to render drawings while I am out and about. I also take photographs to use later as a starting point for my collages. The photographs remind me of colors, patterns, and other details I’ve experienced.
I received a B.A. in Studio Art at the University of Maryland and continued my art education at the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum School. I have been a member of several artist’s groups over the years and have exhibited widely in the Baltimore and Washington, DC area. I took a hiatus from exhibiting my artwork while my husband and I raised two daughters, and I focused on my career in publishing.
I live in Columbia, Maryland, retreat to my beach house on the Eastern Shore of Maryland year-round, and winter in Tucson, Arizona. All of these places provide their own unique opportunities for creativity.
